Requiem
For my dear friend and poet partner
Elegiac *
How to navigate the seas without you-
How to find our feet, slipping in stanzas.
That clever free verse you once held so dear
Wordsworth’s daffodils and Jungian prose.
For a year has passed since this blessed day
Since your natal chart would have spun silver
Soft said ‘come what may’s dancing off the page.
Each glyph and strophe set with staunch effect.
How to find the words, our footing unsure-
How the silence warps once comforting chords.
The tunes’ echo comes a hollow flat key
Where harpsichords lit the warming sea.
And there we leave off, feet swollen unclad
Such treasure left us while wading through sand.

Aria, despite her palpable indeed choking sorrow and grief over the loss of a dear colleague, indeed found such beautiful words and forged such beautiful verse to honor so wonderfully her late great friend and poet Scott Hastie!
Beautiful, Aria 🙏❤️❤️
